ABSTRACT: The last decade has made us realise that in the global era crises are endemic and produce disruptive damage because, thanks to new technologies, they are able to spread at an unprecedented speed. Thus, each crisis becomes from time to time an opportunity to challenge the functioning of our labour markets, our welfare and pension systems and our social security systems. For this reason, the essay examines the lessons we can learn from the crises of the last 50 years and what impact they have had on work, the economy and, more generally, on our lives, given that, with a look to the future, the only way to survive crises is to learn to live with them.
